Heartbroken Gary Sinise mourning sudden death of son, 33

It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of McCanna Anthony “Mac” Sinise, the beloved son of actor Gary Sinise. Mac, aged 33, bravely fought against cancer but sadly lost his battle on January 5th.

In a heartfelt statement, Gary revealed that Mac had been diagnosed with Chordoma, a rare form of cancer, in August 2018. This devastating news came just months after Gary’s wife, Moira Harris, received her own diagnosis of stage three breast cancer.

Throughout his difficult journey, Mac remained resilient and continued to pursue his passion for music. He joined the Gary Sinise Foundation as an assistant manager of education and outreach, showcasing his talent as a drummer in the Lt. Dan Band, alongside his father. Mac graduated from the University of Southern California, where he studied songwriting and composition, showcasing his creativity and dedication to his craft.

Despite facing numerous spine surgeries and paralysis from the chest down, Mac’s spirit remained strong. Just before his passing, he had completed work on an album titled “Resurrection & Revival”. This project showcases his unwavering determination and artistic talent.

In his heartfelt message, Gary expressed the indescribable grief of losing a child. He acknowledged the pain that many families have experienced and empathized with their suffering. The Sinise family’s battle against cancer lasted for 5 ½ years, and throughout this challenging time, they witnessed Mac’s unwavering courage and resilience. He fought diligently against an incurable cancer, never giving up.

Mac’s legacy lives on through his family, who will continue to honor and remember him. Gary is dedicated to preserving Mac’s memory by releasing his album, “Mac Sinise: Resurrection and Revival,” on vinyl.
