Charles, who is 75 years old, was at Buckingham Palace yesterday to hold an in-person Privy Council meeting before meeting with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. It is worth noting that the past two meetings between Charles and Sunak have taken place over the telephone, following the King’s diagnosis. However, it was always planned for the weekly meetings, a longstanding tradition between British monarchs and their prime ministers, to resume in person on February 21.
After their meeting earlier this week, a video was released by Buckingham Palace showcasing the interactions between Charles and Sunak. In the video, Charles expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received, saying, “I’ve had so many wonderful messages and cards. It’s reduced me to tears most of the time.” The emotional response from the King highlights the impact of the public’s support during this challenging time.
Despite his diagnosis, Charles remains optimistic and is actively supported by Queen Camilla and Prince William. The royal family is united in their encouragement for Charles to take the time he needs to recover before resuming his duties.
