When Zoey was three years old, her life took an unexpected turn. This vibrant and energetic girl suddenly found herself facing a battle with cancer. Before her illness, Zoey was just like any other child, filled with vitality and always on the go. She grew up in a loving home and brought joy wherever she went.
One day, while playing, Zoey tripped and lost control of both her hands. Concerned, her family immediately took her to the hospital. Little did they know that they were about to receive news that would change their lives forever. The physician informed them that Zoey had DIPG, a rare and severe brain tumor. It was a devastating blow for a family who cherished their young daughter, full of life and love.
“We didn’t know what to do, where to go. We were told it’s pretty much a death sentence,” Zoey’s mother, Casey, explained. The family was faced with a tragedy and a nightmare no one should have to endure. But they remained strong and resilient, especially for Zoey’s sake. Over the next two years, Zoey underwent numerous cancer treatments, including finding a radiation therapy facility in Germany where she showed signs of improvement.
Unfortunately, Zoey’s condition started to deteriorate. In July 2018, she peacefully passed away in her American home. It was a heartbreaking moment for her parents, but they were grateful for the time they had together. They wanted to make the most of their last moments with Zoey and invited all their loved ones to join them. Zoey continued to spread joy even until her final minutes.
Now, Zoey’s mother, Casey, has courageously decided to share their family’s last moment on Facebook. She explains, “I shared it because even though it’s a painful moment, it’s a beautiful moment in our eyes.” The picture captures the love between mom, dad, and their precious daughter. They sat on the couch with the family dog, singing Disney songs and watching a Harry Potter movie. In the midst of peace and calmness, Zoey peacefully passed away.
The family has established a Facebook page called Zoey’s Light to spread the hope and light that Zoey brought into the world. They want her story to inspire others to help and love each other fully, appreciating every ordinary day. Zoey’s memory lives on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
The story of Zoey is a reminder of the preciousness of life and the strength of the human spirit. Zoey may be gone, but her legacy will continue to shine brightly. She has taught us the power of love, and her spirit will forever inspire us to make a difference in the world.
