Kelly Clarkson Settles Financial Case with Ex-Husband

Kelly Clarkson, the beloved singer and songwriter, has recently reached a resolution in a long-standing legal case with her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. The case revolved around financial issues that arose after their divorce. Clarkson, who has been open about her struggles following the split, is now getting some much-needed redemption.

During their marriage, Blackstock had served as Clarkson’s manager and charged her a commission for his services. However, it has now been revealed that he had taken significant sums of money from her. In a recent ruling by a California labor commissioner, it was determined that Blackstock had overcharged Clarkson in commission payments.

As a result, the commissioner ordered Blackstock to pay back the amount he had overcharged, totaling approximately $2,641,374. This ruling brings a sense of justice to Clarkson, who has faced financial difficulties in the aftermath of her divorce.

Despite the ruling, Blackstock is reportedly planning to appeal the decision. The legal documents revealed that Blackstock had acted unlawfully by booking gigs and signing deals for Clarkson. The labor commissioner emphasized that only talent agents, not managers, have the authority to secure and sign employment for their clients. Exceptions may exist in certain cases, but this was not one of them.

According to the ruling, Blackstock owes Clarkson $1,983,155.70 for her time as a coach on “The Voice,” $208,125 for her collaboration with Norwegian Cruise Lines, $450,000 for her partnership with Wayfair, and $93.30 for hosting the Billboard Music Awards on three occasions.

While Clarkson also sought a percentage of the money earned from her show “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” it was ruled that this money belonged to Blackstock.

The couple, who were married for nearly seven years, went through a bitter custody battle over their two children and fought over their shared Montana ranch. The divorce settlement was finally reached in March 2022, granting Clarkson primary custody of their children and the rights to keep the ranch.

After the divorce, Clarkson found solace in New York City, where she was able to heal and regain her footing. She has focused on her music, releasing the album “Chemistry,” which was inspired by her personal life. Clarkson has expressed her contentment with being single for now and is not actively seeking a new relationship. With two kids, two dogs, three rabbits, a hamster, and multiple jobs, she has a lot going on.

We wish Kelly Clarkson the best of luck in her future endeavors. She has been through a tough time in the past few years, fighting various legal battles. Share this news with other fans of Kelly Clarkson so that they can celebrate this favorable ruling with her!
