Jayne Fincher, a royal photographer who captured some of Princess Diana’s most memorable images, was always by her side, documenting their journeys. She even rented a jet to travel to the Outer Hebrides, where Charles and Diana were on official business.
“When I caught up,” says Fincher, “Charles said, ‘Where have you been?’” Their adventures were always filled with surprises.
Embracing Nature’s Elements
The Outer Hebrides, known for its extreme winds and rain, welcomed Princess Diana during her visit in 1985. Despite the weather, she looked radiant and happy. Photographer Jayne Fincher remarked, “You don’t see Diana dressed like that very often. She looked so happy. It was pouring rain, but her makeup was perfect and un-smudged. I looked a mess, as usual.”
This photo was taken during Diana’s last summer alive. She is seen with her boyfriend, Dodi Al Fayed, on a boat in St. Tropez, France, joyfully jumping into the water. It’s a testament to the happiness she found in her final days.
