Teacher Gets an Unexpected Answer

Finding the right words to be polite can sometimes be challenging, but it’s always best to be respectful. However, some people prefer a more direct approach. In a classroom setting, a teacher was trying to teach her third-grade students about good manners.

She turned to her class and posed a question to Michael, “If you were on a date having dinner with a nice young lady, how would you tell her that you have to go to the bathroom?” Michael boldly responded, “Just a minute, I have to go pee.”

The teacher quickly corrected him, saying, “Well, that would be rude and impolite. What about you, Sherman? How would you say it?” Sherman thought for a moment and replied, “I am sorry, but I really need to go to the bathroom. I’ll be right back.”

The teacher acknowledged the improvement but mentioned that saying the word “bathroom” at the dinner table still wasn’t very nice. Finally, the teacher turned to little Johnny, hoping he would demonstrate good manners. She asked, “Can you behave for once and show us your good manners?”

Johnny, with an exceptionally witty response, said, “I would say, ‘Darling, may I please be excused for a moment? I have to shake hands with a very dear friend of mine, who I hope to introduce you to after dinner.’” The teacher was so surprised by Johnny’s clever answer that she fainted!

Little Johnny’s response certainly earned him an A+ for his unique blend of politeness and creativity. We hope this joke brought a smile to your face! Let us know how you liked it in the Facebook comments, and remember to like and share.
