Many of you may have heard of the veterans discount. Those that have served in the military can avail of offers and discounts in many stores and restaurants. Certain privileges come with being a member of the armed services when serving your country. Although it may not be anything fancy, these discounts come as a small gesture of appreciation. A tradition that we associate with certain businesses.
A KFC store in Ohio recently decided to get in on the action as well. Once the sign was posted by the store, it generated multiple online reactions. Generally, irrespective of time or date, the store’s policy was to allow all those dressed in uniform to dine for free. This original idea was to offer a discount on chicken to show appreciation to local officers. And this new policy was about to receive additional attention online.
Many discussions were prompted when this image was posted on a Facebook page called Ohio Going Blue. Despite having over 10,000 likes and 6,000 shares, there were many viewpoints. Commenters wondered if it was even necessary to give this offer to the police. Others indicated that as officers, they would prefer not to be given special attention and would rather pay for their meals themselves. But there were also those who supported the gesture, acknowledging that the acknowledgment of law enforcement is important.
The sign will remain posted in the store despite earning so much media interest. For the officers who put their lives at risk, let this sign serve as a salute to them, so they know we appreciate their efforts.
