Having a child is always a miraculous and unforgettable moment for parents. But for Bethani and Tim Webb, their pregnancy turned out to be even more extraordinary than they could have ever imagined.
The couple, from Hythe, Alberta, had always dreamed of starting a family. Soon after their marriage in June 2015, their dream started to become a reality. Bethani fell pregnant just three months later, and the couple eagerly went for a routine ultrasound at the hospital.
What greeted them on the ultrasound screen left them speechless. It was an image that neither the nurse nor the couple could believe – Bethani was carrying not one, not two, but four identical girls! The chances of this happening are an astonishing 1 in 15 million.
“I could not believe it, I was in such shock. Honestly, I thought the ultrasound tech was joking. I couldn’t believe it,” recalls Bethani in an interview with CBS News.
In June 2016, Bethani gave birth to four healthy daughters – Abigail, McKayla, Grace, and Emily – via C-section at just 33 weeks. What made their story even more remarkable was that the babies were conceived naturally, without any medical assistance.
The journey hasn’t been easy for the couple. Differentiating between their identical children has been a challenge. To overcome this, they resorted to painting each baby’s toenails in different colors!
Caring for one newborn is a big responsibility, but caring for four is a whole different level. To manage the day-to-day tasks, the couple requires extraordinary skills. For instance, their daughters go through a whopping 48 diapers every single day!
Financially, it has also been a struggle for the family. They have relied on donations at times and have been blessed with the support of volunteers who visit their home regularly. Thanks to the generosity of their local community, they were even able to buy a bigger car to accommodate their growing family.
“It’s really amazing because there would be no way we could do this by ourselves,” says Bethani gratefully.
Though challenging, the couple feels incredibly blessed and grateful for the love and support they have received. Currently, the whole family resides with Tim’s mom, who takes joy in caring for her adorable grandchildren.
