MaeDell Taylor Hawkins, a 98-year-old matriarch from Kentucky, recently had the joyous opportunity to meet her first great-great-great-grandchild, Zhavia Whitaker. This heartwarming meeting took place in February, when little Zhavia was just seven months old. MaeDell’s family is nothing short of remarkable. With a brood of over 620 grandkids, including the offspring of her daughters and their children, it’s clear that MaeDell’s love and support have played a pivotal role in shaping generations of happy, healthy women and children. MaeDell’s life has been filled with resilience and love. At the young age of 16, she married Bill Taylor, a 50-year-old railroad worker with ten children from a previous marriage. Despite facing many challenges, including a lack of modern conveniences like a washer and dryer, MaeDell never complained. Now, as MaeDell approaches her 99th birthday in July, her legacy continues to thrive. Her family spans across generations, with 37 great-great-great-grandchildren outside of Kentucky, along with 106 grandkids, 222 great-grandchildren, and 234 great-great-grandchildren. It’s truly remarkable to envision raising such a vibrant and loving family on a modest budget.
Looking ahead to the future, MaeDell’s family plans to reunite in June to capture another precious photo if everything goes well. The bond between MaeDell and her great-great-great-grandchild Zhavia serves as a testament to the enduring power of love and family.
