Margot Robbie’s ’70s Fashion Fixation

Just when we thought we were finally getting over our Daisy Jones & The Six obsession – we’ve binged watched the series, listened to the soundtrack on repeat, and recreated all of Riley Keough and Camila Morrone’s character’s outfits – Margot Robbie has got us straight back in a ’70s fashion fixation with her latest look.

Margot Robbie bra flared jeans

Attending the Chanel Cruise 2024 Collection fashion show in Los Angeles yesterday, Margot stood out in a black bra and high-waisted light-wash jeans with an exaggerated flared leg in a look that was straight outta the ’70s. She layered a gold chain vest over the top that appeared to be constructed from Chanel watch faces and brooches. A black quilted Chanel handbag alongside a Chanel watch and gold bangle worn on her wrist were her only accessories. All in all, she looked beyond incredible, as per.

It was no surprise to see Margot sitting front row at the event. The actress first signed on as a Chanel ambassador in 2018 and has worn Chanel almost exclusively for her red-carpet looks in the years since, most recently at the 2023 Met Gala.

Just as she looked to the past for her bra and flares combo, Margot’s Met look was also a vintage-inspired number. The sheer-bodice black gown she wore on the first Monday in May was actually a recreation of Cindy Crawford’s iconic 1993 Chanel gown, originally designed by Karl Lagerfeld.

Margot does occasionally deviate from Chanel, mixing up her go-to label’s looks with ensembles from other fashion houses such as Versace and Alaïa. At a promotional event for her upcoming film Barbie, in which Margot plays the role of the titular character, during CinemaCon, she rocked an on-theme pink gingham Prada two-piece.

The retro-inspired co-ord consisted of a crop top and mini skirt, with Margot adding fuchsia Christian Louboutin heels to complete the look.

With brands including Chanel, Prada, Valentino, and Bottega Veneta all clamoring to dress the Aussie star, we can’t wait to see what Margot wears next.
