Nicolas Cage Opens Up About His Movie Choices

Nicolas Cage, known for his unique style and performances, has had an interesting career in Hollywood. While he has received critical acclaim for films like Leaving Las Vegas – for which he won an Academy Award – he has also been involved in many subpar movies that left fans scratching their heads. Recently, Cage spoke candidly about his choices and revealed the reason behind his extensive filmography.

After achieving success in films like Raising Arizona, Moonstruck, and National Treasure, Cage found himself taking on a different kind of role. In the 2010s, he starred in numerous films that were often criticized and went straight to video on demand. These movies, as Cage put it, were “crummy” films. But why did he take them on?

In a recent interview with 60 Minutes, Cage revealed the surprising reason for his involvement in these movies. He explained that he was burdened by a debt of $6 million due to real estate investments that didn’t go as planned. Rather than filing for bankruptcy, Cage decided to work as much as possible to pay off his debts. This led him to take on multiple film projects, even if they weren’t critically acclaimed.

While these “crummy” movies may not have been commercial successes or highly regarded by critics, Cage maintains that he never gave anything less than his best. He emphasized that he cared deeply about his work and always put in the effort, regardless of the film’s quality. Some of these low-budget films, such as Mandy and Color Out of Space, even found a cult following and received positive reviews.

Despite the unconventional turn in his career, Cage’s dedication to his craft hasn’t gone unnoticed. He remains one of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars and has experienced a recent comeback in critically acclaimed films like Pig and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Currently, he can be seen portraying Dracula in the comedy film Renfield.

Cage’s willingness to take risks and his perseverance during tough times have paid off. Not only did he manage to pay off his debts, but he also continued doing what he loves – acting. We’re thrilled to see Nicolas Cage back to doing better films and enjoying the recognition he deserves!
