How a 31-Year-Old Actor Invited His 89-Year-Old Neighbor to Move In with Him

Do you know your neighbors well enough to invite them over to your home? How about inviting them to live with you? Meet Chris Salvatore, a 31-year-old actor, who did just that for his ailing 89-year-old neighbor, Norma Cook.

In 2013, Chris moved in across the hall from Norma and her cat, Hermes. They would exchange hellos, but it wasn’t until Chris introduced himself that their friendship took off. They became fast friends and formed a strong bond over the years.

When Norma’s health started declining at the age of 89, she needed constant care. After a hospital stay, Chris discovered that Norma wouldn’t be able to return home without someone to take care of her. With no children or nearby family, Norma was at a loss.

Chris took matters into his own hands and set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for Norma’s care. Although they tried a few caretakers, Chris soon realized that he had to do something more. He couldn’t bear to send Norma to a facility when she was like a grandmother to him.

So, Chris made a heartfelt decision – he invited Norma to move into his apartment. He wanted to give her the gift of living her last days at home, surrounded by loved ones and her beloved pet. Norma was overjoyed with Chris’s offer.

As roommates, Chris and Norma shared many memorable moments together. They would watch the news, have conversations, drink Champagne, and snack on peanuts. Their friendship brought joy and companionship to both of them.

Sadly, on February 15, 2017, Norma passed away, leaving Chris heartbroken. He shared the news on Instagram, where he often documented their adventures and cherished memories.

Chris didn’t have any obligation to help Norma, but he couldn’t bear to see her spend her final days in a hospital without the love and care she deserved. His selfless act serves as a beautiful example of kindness and compassion.

Let’s all take a moment to appreciate Chris Salvatore’s incredible gesture and reflect on how we can be more like him in our own communities. Share this article if you believe in spreading love and compassion to those in need.
