Paris Hilton, the reality TV star and entrepreneur, recently welcomed her first child, Phoenix Barron, with her husband, Carter Reum, through a surrogate. As any proud mother would be, Hilton was overjoyed to become a mother to a healthy baby boy. Eager to share her joy with the world, Hilton posted an adorable picture of herself and her son on social media, captioned, “My precious angel baby Phoenix’s first time in NYC.”
However, as is unfortunately common on social media, some people can be incredibly cruel and insensitive, even toward celebrities. In the comment section of Hilton’s post, there were hurtful remarks mocking her baby, particularly criticizing the size of his head.
Some comments suggested that Phoenix needed medical evaluation due to the size of his fontanelle (soft spot) and the possibility of blockage of spinal fluid in his brain. Hilton was understandably hurt by these comments and decided to defend her son. In a response, she expressed her disappointment, stating that targeting her child, or anyone else’s child for that matter, is completely unacceptable.
Hilton went on to say that she works hard to create an environment of love, respect, and acceptance and expects the same in return. She emphasized that she is a proud working mother, and her baby is healthy, adorable, and angelic.
She pleaded for people to treat one another with kindness and empathy, hoping that this experience would serve as a reminder that everyone should be more compassionate.
In an interview with People, Hilton revealed that she receives support from her family and loved ones in raising Phoenix Barron. She mentioned that her parents are particularly obsessed with him and that she often seeks advice from her mother and sister, Nicky Hilton. Hilton feels fortunate to have such a strong support system in her family.
It is truly disheartening that Hilton and her husband had to face such negativity from people who don’t even know them. No child or person should ever be subjected to mockery or harassment.
