On the latest episode of “Red Table Talk,” Jaden Smith, along with his parents Will and Jada Pinkett, sister Willow, and grandmother Adrienne Banfield-Norris, came together to discuss some health challenges impacting their family. The conversation was a heartfelt exploration of their experiences and a testament to the importance of prioritizing health.
Jaden, at 21 years old, bravely opened up about his intense stomach problems and his determination to find a solution. To assist him on his health journey, the family sought the expertise of Dr. Mark Hyman and nutritionist Mona Sharma, a decision that would prove pivotal in addressing their concerns.
Jaden shared that he initially had reservations about seeking guidance due to the criticism he faced when he adopted a vegan diet. People in the streets would approach him, expressing concern and offering help, mistaking his dietary choices for illness. Despite these challenges, Jaden recognized the need to prioritize his well-being and decided to move forward with the assessment.
Dr. Hyman explained that Jaden’s health issues were a result of consuming the wrong types of food. He emphasized the importance of making dietary changes and incorporating supplements to address specific deficiencies.
Gluten and dairy emerged as problematic for Jaden, who was also following a vegetarian lifestyle. This raised concerns about deficiencies in vitamins and omega-3. However, Dr. Hyman assured Jaden that once his stomach issues were resolved and his diet adjusted accordingly, he would regain his vitality and continue to make waves in the world.
In September, Jaden’s extreme diet had caused alarm for his parents. He admitted, “I was just eating, like, two meals a day. And maybe one… I was not doing good. I wasn’t looking good, I wasn’t feeling good, I wasn’t sleeping.” His health deteriorated further while he was in Australia, leading to hospitalization for symptoms of nausea and dizziness. This event deeply worried the entire family. As a response, Jaden made the transition to a vegetarian diet. However, concerns remained regarding his protein intake, prompting intervention from his concerned parents.
The Smith family has always been transparent about their mental and physical health journey. Just recently, Will shared his colonoscopy experience, during which a polyp was discovered and removed. Will emphasized the importance of prioritizing one’s health, stating, “2019, gotta get our health right. There’s a certain amount of commitment and embarrassment involved with being healthy. Just gotta do it, man.”
Will’s commitment to sharing his experience stems from a desire to inspire others to become proactive about their well-being. He hopes that by doing so, people can lead healthier, happier lives and enjoy as many glorious years as possible.
Through this candid conversation on “Red Table Talk,” Jaden Smith and his family have demonstrated their dedication to tackling health issues head-on and their willingness to share their experiences to inspire others on their own wellness journeys.
