Pat Sajak Shares His Near-Death Experience and Recovery

“Wheel of Fortune” host, Pat Sajak, recently opened up about his recent emergency surgery for a clogged intestine. In an interview with “Good Morning America,” Sajak revealed that he believed he might not survive the surgery.

Sajak first experienced excruciating pain in November while taking his daughter for a daily stroll. Within hours, he found himself on the verge of surgery, doubled over in pain. Despite various medications to manage his discomfort, nothing seemed to work.

However, Sajak’s anguish was temporarily forgotten after his doctors administered a specific medication. He described a moment where he suddenly saw a beautiful face amidst wonderful hues and heard his daughter and wife talking in the background, although they seemed miles away. In that moment, he thought to himself, “I guess this must be death.”

Fortunately, the surgery was successful and Sajak’s fears proved to be baseless. Looking back, he humorously remarked, “It turns out I was only stoned.” Doctors discovered no underlying cause for the intestinal blockage, and Sajak happily declared that he doesn’t need to make any significant lifestyle changes. He has been feeling fantastic since the surgery and has resumed working on the show.

During his recovery, Sajak’s co-host, Vanna White, filled in for him. In the interview, he playfully expressed his initial concern that White might replace him as the main host, saying, “I learned she enjoys hosting, and I’m a little nervous.”

Sajak remains confident in his position on “Wheel of Fortune” and believes he still has his wits about him. He jokingly added, “They left that in place, so I’ll keep selling vowels for a very long time.”

Ryan Seacrest Named as Pat Sajak’s Successor on “Wheel of Fortune”

Following Pat Sajak’s retirement announcement from the beloved game show “Wheel of Fortune,” speculation arose about who would be the next host. Many considered the possibility of Vanna White taking over, while others wondered if a new face or someone known for their work ethic would step in. However, it has now been officially revealed that Ryan Seacrest will be the new host of “Wheel of Fortune.”

In a statement, Ryan Seacrest expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to succeed Pat Sajak, who has been the host of the syndicated edition of “Wheel of Fortune” since 1983. Seacrest humbly acknowledged Sajak’s legendary status and his tremendous contribution to the show. He stated, “I’m truly humbled to follow in the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak.”

He admired Sajak’s ability to make contestants feel at ease and to make the audience feel comfortable. Seacrest expressed excitement about learning from Sajak during this transition and continuing the legacy of spinning the wheel.
