Making Homemade Chicken and Dumplings
Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing basin. Using a fork or pastry blender, cut the butter into the dry ingredients. Add the milk and stir with a fork until the dough forms a ball.

Flour the work surface thoroughly. A rolling pin and something to cut the dumplings with are required. I prefer to cut pizza with a pizza cutter. I also like to lift the dumplings off the cutting surface with a little spatula.

With a heavily floured rolling pin, roll out the dough thinly. Dip your cutter in flour and cut the dumplings into 22-inch squares. It’s fine if they’re not exact. Simply eyeball it. others will be larger, others smaller, and some may be oddly shaped.

Place them on a heavily floured platter using the floured spatula. Continue to flour between the layers of dumplings.

Bring the stock to a boil to begin cooking them. Drop the dumplings in one at a time, stirring constantly. The extra flour on them will aid in the thickening of the soup.

Cook for 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are no longer doughy.

Serve the cooked chicken in the pot.
