CHERRY DELIGHT CLASSIC

This Classic Cherry Delight is simple to prepare and always impresses. It comes together quickly and is composed of three superficial layers. If you want a dessert that could be more sweet yet tasty, this is it!

CRUST INGREDIENTS

7 tbsp unsweetened butter
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs (about 9 whole crackers)
Three tbsp granulated sugar
FILLING

8 oz. softened cream cheese
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla essence, pure
1 8-ounce container cold whip
1 can (21 oz.) cherry pie filling
How to Make Traditional Cherry Delight
In a medium mixing bowl, place the butter—microwave for 30 seconds or until completely melted. Mix in the graham cracker crumbs and sugar until thoroughly combined. Firmly press the crumb mixture into the bottom of a sprayed 8 × 8 baking dish. Place aside.

FILLING

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese. Mix with an electric mixer until the cream cheese is smooth and lumps-free. Mix in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Mix in the cool whip until blended with the cream cheese, but don’t overmix.
Spread the mixture evenly over the graham cracker crust using a spoon or offset spatula. Spoon the cherry pie filling over the top and carefully smooth it out evenly.
Allow at least 2 hours before serving to chill. I usually leave it overnight.
Keep any leftovers in the refrigerator.
