David Muir is unable to control his tears any more.

David Muir is devastated by the passing of Barbara Walters, who was 93 years old when she died.

The renowned ABC News co-anchor, who has served as an inspiration to generations of women all across the world, was recognized by one of the network’s most prominent newscasters.

Following Barbara’s passing, David paid tribute to her on Instagram with a photo of the two laughing and holding hands while out together.

“We throw about phrases like icon, legend, trailblazer all the time, but Barbara Walters was all of these – and probably most importantly, Barbara Walters was gutsy,” he remarked.

“She was a trailblazer for so many others; we acquired wisdom from her, and to this day, we remain in awe of her,” David continued. ” Barbara, rest in peace.”

Deborah Roberts, an ABC journalist, was among the first to respond, saying, “That is exactly right.”

“Honored to have worked beside her,” GMA’s Lara Spencer said, adding that she was “very sad to hear the news. Barbara was one-of-a-kind. #legend”

The following are remarks by David supporters expressing their anguish at the news: “I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experiences with Barbara. “She was privileged to have you as a friend and coworker,” one person tweeted, while another added, “Rest in peace, Barbara Walters. I enjoyed both the reporting and the uncomfortable questions. I love how you began the View by giving a range of viewpoints and creating lively conversation.”

According to a statement given on Friday by Barbara’s publicist, Cindi Berger, Barbara Walters died peacefully in her own home, surrounded by family and friends. “She has no regrets about how she conducted her life. She blazed the way for other female journalists and all women in general.”

She was the first female co-host of a US news program and the first female primetime network news anchor. She accomplished this by climbing through the ranks of a primarily male-dominated profession.

Her annual compensation with ABC was $1 million at the time, catapulting her to the status of a media superstar. In 2014, she announced her retirement from acting.

When she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2000, she showed gratitude by saying, “I have been granted a life I never expected.”
